The Garden Route follows South Africa's southern coast through a strip of indigenous forest, lakes and cliff-backed beaches that stays green year-round. It is a road trip more than a single destination: Knysna's lagoon, the Tsitsikamma forest and its suspension bridge, whale watching from Plettenberg Bay, and the Cango Caves and ostrich farms of Oudtshoorn just inland over the pass.
