Lake Mburo National Park is the closest savanna park to Kampala and one of the cheapest to visit. It is a compact mix of acacia grassland, rocky ridges, swamps and lakes where zebra, impala and eland graze within a short drive of the main Kampala to Mbarara highway, which makes it an easy first or last night on a western Uganda safari. Uganda Green Hospitality Initiative: Solar Loans and Green Hotel Standards to Cut Hotel Energy Costs
Uganda has launched a National Green Hospitality Initiative to help hotels, lodges, resorts and conference venues switch to cheaper and cleaner energy. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development and Equity Bank Uganda unveiled the programme at Serena Hotel Kampala on 20 October, promising energy assessments for selected properties, a dedicated stream of green finance and, in time, national Green Hotel Standards that would let travellers and buyers see which properties meet a recognised benchmark.

Uganda Tourism Courts Poland: Six Safari Firms Meet Central European Tour Operators in Warsaw
Uganda tourism took its pitch to Central Europe this week, when the country was the official partner at the ALLinTOO tour operator workshop in Warsaw on 22 and 23 October. Six Ugandan safari companies held business meetings with tour operators from Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, and the delegation invited Polish investors to look at lodges and tourism infrastructure, according to a statement from the delegation reported by Nile Post and Watchdog Uganda.
