About
Grand-Bassam was the first capital of French Côte d'Ivoire, and its old quarter of arcaded trading houses and administrative buildings sits between the lagoon and the sea, slowly weathering in the salt air. It is a UNESCO site, and at weekends Abidjan comes out to the beach bars and craft market along the shore.
