Makgadikgadi Pans
Salt pans the size of a country, with zebra migration and meerkats.
About
The Makgadikgadi pans are the bed of a vast prehistoric lake — flat white salt as far as sight goes, crossed on quad bikes in the dry season and turning to grassland after rain, when Botswana's zebra migration and flamingo flocks arrive. Habituated meerkat groups and Kubu Island's baobabs on the pan edge are the other reasons people come.
