Mole National Park

Ghana's largest park, where you track elephant on foot with a ranger.

About

Mole protects nearly 4,600 square kilometres of Guinea savannah in northern Ghana, and it is the most reliable place in West Africa to see elephant. Walking safaris with an armed ranger are the standard way to visit, which brings you closer than a vehicle would, and the main lodge sits on an escarpment overlooking two waterholes where elephant, buffalo and antelope come to drink through the afternoon.

Highlights

  • Walking safaris with rangers
  • Escarpment waterhole viewing
  • Larabanga mud mosque nearby
  • Over 300 bird species
