Nyungwe Forest

Ancient montane rainforest, chimpanzees, and a canopy walkway in the treetops.

About

Nyungwe is one of Africa's oldest rainforests, old enough to have survived the last ice age, and it covers a thousand square kilometres of mountainous south-west Rwanda. It holds thirteen primate species including chimpanzees and enormous troops of Angolan colobus, over three hundred bird species with many Albertine Rift endemics, and a suspended canopy walkway seventy metres above the forest floor.
