About
Sanganeb is a coral atoll rising from deep water off Port Sudan, crowned by a lighthouse and ringed by walls that drop away into blue. Sudan's reefs see a fraction of the traffic Egypt's do, and liveaboards working this coast reach Sanganeb and the Shaab Rumi reef where Cousteau ran his underwater habitat experiments.

Where to stay in Sanganeb & the Sudanese Red Sea
There is no accommodation on Sanganeb atoll or anywhere inside the marine park. It has always been a liveaboard destination, dived from boats sailing out of Port Sudan, and major operators have suspended their Sudan itineraries since the civil war began in 2023. Port Sudan is the only land base, and it has itself been struck by drone attacks, so we cannot point you at anywhere there in good conscience.
