Sani Pass & the Maloti
A hairpin mountain pass climbing to 2,876 metres and the highest pub in Africa.
About
Sani Pass switchbacks up the Drakensberg escarpment from KwaZulu-Natal into Lesotho, a rough 4x4 road that gains a kilometre of height in a few brutal bends. At the top are the border post, the highest pub in Africa, and the Maloti highlands — Basotho shepherds in blankets, pony trekking, and snow in winter.
Highlights
