Sapo protects rainforest that is part of the Upper Guinean forest block, one of the most biologically distinct in Africa, with forest elephant, western chimpanzee, zebra duiker and the elusive pygmy hippo. Infrastructure is minimal — visits are made with rangers on foot, camping in the forest — which is exactly what makes it worth the effort.
